Rowing and sculling (similar to rowing but uses two oars or ‘blades’ instead of one) are sports that have been participated in for centuries and rowing is Britain’s most prolific and successful Olympic sport. Both activities have become increasingly popular with both adults and children from a wide variety of backgrounds due to this Olympic success.
Cardiff Bay Water Activity Centre offers courses for complete beginners through to senior rowers, with the ability to practice on the water and on an indoor rowing machine all year long.
Welsh Rowing endorses our 'Blades' learn to row program and they have an elite squad and academy based from the centre. Additionally, Cardiff University’s novice and senior squads use the centre as their base.
Our professional qualified coaches have a great deal of experience ranging from coaching complete beginners to national level rowers. With our courses endorsed by Welsh Rowing and all of our coaches having both rowed and coached for Wales you will progress through our blades courses with great success and have a lot of fun throughout each session.
Furthermore, we deliver a number of educational rowing initiatives, including the Schools Blades Course supported by the Steve Redgrave Trust.
