Blades Advanced Advanced blades aims to progress people from a hybrid boat into a fine single scull. The course will build on the base skills learnt at blades one and two and refine those to enable participants to scull a racing shell confidently and safely. Participants usually start in a double scull and then progress to learning key skills in a single to gain control and confidence in the boat. When participants have this control they will then progress to paddling, once again building up the consistency of high quality strokes in this boat type and enabling participants to scull for longer periods similar to if they were within a club environment. By the end of the course participants should have a good base level of control and confidence and be able to paddle safely for extended periods. Participants will also be taught about more complex issues with a boat such as lifting and carrying on their own, setting-up the boat more accurately and checking the boat is safe prior to an outing.
