Try Sailing at the Volvo Ocean Race Cardiff

Are you looking for a new way to get outdoors and active, or find something you can enjoy together with the family? If the answer is yes, Cardiff Sailing Centre is inviting you and your family to come to the Volvo Ocean Race Village on Cardiff Barrage, and try sailing for free between Sunday 27 May 2018 and Sunday 3 June 2018.

Cardiff Sailing Centre will be running 30 min ‘Try Sailing’ sessions throughout the day between 11:00 and 16:00.

Whether you come by yourself or bring the whole family, a team of qualified instructors and experience sailors will be on hand to take you afloat and give you an introduction to sailing. All sessions are free, and all equipment will be provided at no extra cost. Minimum age 8 years.

There is no pre-booking prior to the event. It is first come, first served, on the day at the Race village registration desk

These taster sessions are being run as part of the Volvo Ocean Race stopover in Cardiff which is running a FREE festival from 27 May until 10 June 2018 with the race village opening at 10am daily.

With a variety of entertainment, Volvo Ocean Race-themed attractions and food and drink stalls, the Race Village festival site is guaranteed to appeal to a variety of people looking for an exciting day out.

The festival will also have a Welsh flavour, with Welsh producers offering locally-sourced food and drink – from bars offering real ale to the most popular street food vendors. More importantly, it’s the opportunity to give a big Welsh welcome, and show support, to the teams bold enough to compete in the world’s toughest oceans for the ultimate sporting prize.

With Bleddyn Mon, a Welsh sailor onboard Turn the Tide on Plastic, there will hopefully be a chance to see our local heroes competing.
