There\u2019s nothing better than going out on the water and ‘getting your feet wet’ as a way to learn, however there are times when your practical knowledge needs to be supplemented by classroom learning, and this is where the RYA Shorebased courses<\/a> come into play.<\/p>\n

We offer both the RYA First Aid and RYA Short Range Certificate (SRC) throughout the year. While we may schedule courses, we\u2019re always flexible, and can fit in courses to suit you or your club \/ organisation.<\/p>\n

RYA VHF Marine Radio<\/strong><\/a>
\nThe VHF Short Range Certificate (SRC) is essential for anyone wanting to use a marine VHF radio. This one-day course doesn\u2019t require any previous experience, however you\u2019ll be expected to do some pre-course work before attending. It\u2019s followed by an exam \/ assessment (practical and theory) carried out by a separate RYA Assessor, but it’s not as daunting as it might sound.<\/p>\n

RYA First Aid<\/strong><\/a>
\nThis one day course is essential for anyone who goes out on the water. It includes the usual first aid subjects (from a marine perspective), as well as some specific subjects, such as cold shock and hypothermia from immersion and \/ or exposure, seasickness and dehydration, medical assistance or advice by VHF and helicopter rescue.<\/p>\n

RYA Radar<\/strong><\/a>
\nThis one day course is becoming increasingly popular on both sailing and motor boats. Radar is an invaluable aid for navigation and collision avoidance, with the Collision Regulations saying you must use all available means to avoid a collision. This means if you have Radar fitted, you must use it and understand how to use it correctly.<\/p>\n
