A course focused on practical skills, Schools Blades is as suitable for individuals who have never rowed or sculled before, as it is for those who are experienced in the sport.

The majority of the course is an active experience, with participants empowered to perform effectively in different boat types and to demonstrate control, fluency and consistency of stroke. Safe and correct technique is also taught on the Indoor Rowing machine, which helps support the development of young people’s personal learning and physical development.

Participants undertaking Schools Blades are usually studying GCSE or A-Level Physical Education, as rowing is now an option for study. However, the course is not limited to GCSE or A-Level study and would fulfil a valuable introduction to the sport.

At the centre, we work with local schools and run the annual ‘Welsh Schools Indoor Rowing Championships’ to push the boundaries of pupils’ learning in a safe environment.
